Are there any mandatory continuing education requirements for New Mexico Advanced Practice Registered nurses?
New Mexico APRNs w/Compact RN and w/NM RN must complete five (5) hours of non-cancer pain management if you hold a DEA license. APRNs without a national certification must complete five (5) hours related to CNP practice and five (5) hours of non-cancer pain management if you hold a DEA; if you do not hold a DEA then replace five (5) hours of non-cancer pain management with five (5) additional hours of CNP practice.
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
