Are there continuing education requirements for Colorado nurses?
Nurses in Colorado do not need to complete continuing education for their nursing license renewal.
When is the nurse re-licensure deadline for Colorado nurses?
All Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licenses expire on September 30 of odd- or even-numbered years and are dependent upon the issuance date. All Practical Nurse licenses expire on August 31 of even-numbered years.
Are there any mandatory continuing education requirements for Colorado nurses?
The only mandatory continuing education requirements are for Colorado APRNs who hold an active DEA license. Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
