CE Requirements for Alabama Nursing License Renewal
All nurses licensed in the state of Alabama are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education each license renewal period. All 24 hours of continuing education are elective, meaning you can choose the topics that are relevant to your nursing practice and interests. When is the nurse re-licensure deadline for Alabama nurses?
The license period is for two years based upon the renewal cycle of the license. LPN renewal is every odd numbered year and RN renewal is every even numbered year. Licenses must be renewed by 12/31 of the relevant year of the license.
Are there any mandatory continuing education requirements for Alabama nurses?
There is a 1-time requirement for all Alabama nurses to take a 4-hour mandatory class that is available through the Alabama Board of Nursing web site, www.abn.alabama.gov. There are also pharmacology requirements (6 hours of the 24) for advanced practice nurses.
