Alaska Advanced Practice Nurse CEU Requirements
All Alaska advanced practice nurses, (APRNs) are required to complete thirty (30) hours of continuing education every two-year renewal cycle, including 15-hours of pharmacology for APRNs with prescribing authority. Alaska APRN License Renewal Requirements
All advanced practice nurses licensed in Alaska must complete 30 hours of continuing education each license renewal period. Half of the thirty hours of continuing education are electives and 15 hours are required in pharmacology for APRNs with prescriptive authority. For your elective CE hours, you can choose the topics that are relevant to your nursing practice and interests to meet your continuing education requirements. All our courses are ANCC accredited and will count towards your 30-hour requirement.

When is the deadline for Advanced Practice Nurse re-licensure in Alaska?
The license period is for two years based upon the renewal cycle of the license. Advanced Practice Nurse renewals are even numbered years by the end of November (11/30).
Are there any mandatory continuing education requirements for Alaska Advanced Practice Nurses?
Yes, Advanced Practice Nurses are required to take 15 hours of pharmacology continuing education and to meet the continuing competency requirements for Alaska, you must also complete either 30 hours of professional nursing activity (unpaid) or have at least 320 hours of nursing employment during the licensing period.
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
