Learn more about California license requirements below.
California APRN License Renewal Requirements
All advanced practice nurses licensed in California must complete 30 hours of continuing education each license renewal period. All of the 30 hours of continuing education are electives with the exception of Nurse Practitioners with prescriptive authority who must complete 3 hours on Schedule II controlled substances as part of the 30-hour requirement. For your elective CE hours, you can choose the topics that are relevant to your nursing practice and interests to meet your continuing education requirements. We are ANCC accredited and approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, CEP16322, so your courses will count towards your 30-hour requirement.

Starting January 1, 2023 a licensee still within the first 2 years of holding their license, immediately following their initial licensure, must complete one hour of direct participation in an implicit bias course offered by a continuing education provider that has been approved by the Board of Registered Nursing, such as NurseCE4Less.
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
