Nevada APRN License Renewal Requirements
Nevada APRNs are required to complete forty-five (45) contact hours of continuing education, fifteen (15) of which should be directly related to the licensee’s specialty. Of the fifteen (15) additional hours the APRN must complete, a 2-hour course on suicide prevention must be completed every four (4) years and a 2-hour substance use and abuse course completed every renewal cycle, as well as maintain a portfolio pursuant to NAC 632.2563. Nevada nurse licenses are valid for two years. Your expiration date will be available on your Nevada nurse portal.
Are there any mandatory continuing education requirements for Nevada Advanced Practice Registered nurses?
Of the fifteen (15) additional hours the Nevada APRN must complete, a 2-hour course on suicide prevention must be completed every four (4) years and a 2-hour substance use and abuse course completed every renewal cycle, as well as maintain a portfolio pursuant to NAC 632.2563.
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
