
Connecticut Advanced Practice Nurse CEU Requirements
All Connecticut advanced practice nurses (APRN’s) must complete 50 hours of continuing education related to the professional needs of the licensee to meet the public’s health care needs. This 50-hour requirement includes at least five (5) contact hours of training or education in pharmacotherapeutics and at least one contact hour of training or education in topics including diseases, risk management, sexual assault, domestic violence, cultural competency, and substance abuse.
Connecticut APRN License Renewal Requirements
All advanced practice nurses licensed in Connecticut must complete at least 50 hours of continuing education each 2-year license renewal period. This continuing education is made up of both electives and required topics, including at least five (5) contact hours of pharmacotherapeutics and at least one contact hour of in topics including diseases, risk management, sexual assault, domestic violence, cultural competency, and substance abuse. Are there any mandatory continuing education requirements for Connecticut Advanced Practice Nurses?
Yes, APRN’s are required to complete continuing education related to the professional needs of the licensee in order to meet the health care needs of the public; include at least five (5) contact hours of training or education in pharmacotherapeutics; and include at least one contact hour of training or education in each of the following topics: (A) diseases, including, but not limited to, acquired immune deficiency syndrome and human immunodeficiency virus, (B) risk management, (C) sexual assault, (D) domestic violence, (E) cultural competency, and (F) substance abuse, including, but not limited to, prescribing controlled substances and pain management; and (G) on and after January 1, 2016, include not less than two contact hours of training or education during the first renewal period in which continuing education is required and not less than once every six years thereafter on the topic of mental health conditions common to veterans and family members of veterans, including determining whether a patient is a veteran or family member of a veteran, screening for conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, risk of suicide, depression and grief, and suicide prevention training.
