Florida nurses are renewed by department in three groups, group 1,2, and 3. Group 1’s license expires April 30, 2024, group 2’s license expires July 31, 2024, and group 3’s license expires April 30, 2025.

Yes. Every renewal period, RN’s, APRN’s and LPN’s are required to take a 2-hour course on the Prevention of Medical Errors, a 2-hour course on Nursing Laws and Rules, and a 2-hour course on Human Trafficking. Every other renewal, a 2-hour course on Recognizing Impairment in the Workplace is required. Every third renewal, a 2-hour course on Domestic Violence is required. During first renewal, a one-time requirement of a 1-hour course on HIV/AIDS is required. APRN’s are required to complete a 3-hour course on safe and effective prescription of controlled substances every renewal.
