Course Summary

The DSM-5 takes a different approach in several broad categories to diagnose mental disorders. Critics of newer versions of the DSM argue more scientific methods are needed to diagnose mental health conditions. Use of the DSM-5 requires clinicians to be aware of the latest changes and need for future research to improve psychiatric diagnosis and treatment. The purpose of this course is to provide professional nurses with knowledge of the DSM-5 for psychiatric diagnosis and treatment.
