CE Requirements for Vermont Nursing License Renewal
Vermont RNs and LPNs must satisfy a continuing competency requirement. You can satisfy this requirement by meeting one of the following requirements: The active practice hour requirement which is 50 days (400 hours) in the last two years for paid compensation as a registered or licensed practical nurse or 120 days (960 hours) within the last five years of the current licensing period; or the continuing education requirement which is to complete 20 hours of continuing education (CE) within the last two years; or hold a nationally recognized nursing certification; or complete an original/initial nursing program or re-entry nursing program within the last five years. APRNS must maintain national certification and attest to meeting the active practice hour requirement of 50 days (400 hours) in the last two years as and APRN or 120 days (960 hours) within the last five years of the current licensing period. APRNs who prescribe controlled substances must complete two (2) hours of CE regarding prescribing controlled substances every 2 years.
